Lockdown Diaries | Time at Home.

Hello! I hope you are all keeping well at this very odd time in our lives. We are thinking of all of the NHS staff and key workers who are risking themselves to save other people. We continue to be thinking and praying for you all.

For those of us who can't go out, I wanted to share what I've been getting up to, and some more ideas of bits we've got to keep us occupied during our time at home.

Crafts
I started learning to crochet a few years a go with a pal while on holiday, but didn't quite get the hang of it, which I think is mainly down to the type of yarn we bought. Since then she has made some gorgeous bits for her little boy which has inspired me to have another a go. And I have! I'm attempting to make some bunting, and so far I think it's looking ok! Once I've made all the flags I then need to work out how to crochet them together...watch this space! I've also managed to finish some scrap booking from our Honeymoon last year. It was really lovely to look back on our trip!

Baking
I'm always up for baking and trying new recipes! We're going to make some white chocolate and cranberry cookies in preparation for James' birthday tomorrow. Fingers crossed they come out ok!

Puzzles
So this is one I haven't actually started yet... saving it for when we get pretty desperate! We popped to hobby craft before the stores closed and we picked up one of the last ones left on the shelf, which were all Disney princesses. James chose Snow White so that's what we've gone with!

Music Making
One of my New Years resolutions was to get back into practising the guitar and the piano, and now I've got more time to do so!

Reading
Generally I only read to get off to sleep each night, so I'm looking forward to reading during the day, although I'm anticipating it making me a little sleepy!

Bible
What a chance we've got to give some time into reading the bible and pressing into Jesus. I've got a couple of Christian books I'd like to get started too.

Tidying
My husband will tell you one of my hobbies is tidying, and to be honest he's not wrong. I do enjoy giving the house a little tidy up and sort out. I've already managed to clear out some old clothes too!

Getting Social
This seems like an odd one as we are socially isolating ourselves, however I'm already finding that I've been speaking to a lot of my friends, perhaps more than I would normally! We're using Zoom for small group meetings/bible study and the app House Party for a quick catch up chat! It's so important to keep in touch with people to keep a bit of normality!

Getting outside
We've been allowed a daily exercise outing, and I'd really recommend that you use it! We've been trying to get out once a day, even if it's just around the local area. The weather has been beautiful too so enjoy it!

Gardening
My body is definitely feeling it today, but I loved getting out into the garden to start weeding and clearing. Hopefully we can enjoy some summer evenings out there as the weather gets warmer! We also found some sweet pea seeds, so planted them in some DIY planters. Fingers crossed we see them making an appearance over the next few weeks!

Thankyou for taking some time to read, I hope this has given you some inspiration for what to do at home. I'd love to hear what you're getting up to too!

Emily xx
