Home Diaries

Happy Sunday!

I hope you've had a good first week back into what perhaps feels a bit more like reality!

I wanted to come over here onto the blog as I've been thinking about some different topics I could post about and something that I love reading and seeing inspiration for is people's home interiors. I have spent hours on Pinterest looking for inspiration for different spaces and have pinned hundred of home inspo images onto lots of different boards. Now that James and I have somewhere to live of our own we have already loved moving things around and playing with different spaces to see which arrangements best work for us. I love reading about and looking at images of people's homes so I thought it as about time I started sharing bits of our home which we have grown to love too.

James and I bought our house and moved in October, about 2 months after we got married. Its a one bedroom property with a dressing room/office space attached. Downstairs we have our kitchen and lounge and a conservatory which we use as a dining space. The conservatory really sold the house to use and there are some many little hidden gems which make this house so special. So many people have commented on it's small cottage style characteristics, even though it's an end of terrace town house! Although it's only a small property it is perfect for us in this new chapter.

The first space I want to share is the shelving unit in our lounge. Ever since we moved I have struggled with how to arrange these shelves. They are very deep which doesn't make them very suitable for lining up books, as we could probably have about 3 rows deep of them! They aren't hugely tall either which has made it difficult to find objects the right size for them. However, after Christmas I had a little shuffle around and I've found what I think so far is the best arrangement for these shelves. They sit right under our television and they're actually a fixed unit into the wall.

On the top shelf we have a picture taken from our wedding day, inside one of the frames we used as one the tables numbers. Next to it there's a similar frame but much smaller with beautiful embroidered text inside which was given to us as a wedding gift which I adore.

We have some beautiful books on the top shelf too which are great to pick up and flick through, next to a simple metal H, another lovely wedding gift.

Moving down we have a candle which was gifted to use with a small flower bouquet next to it which has lace wrapped around it from our wedding day. Moving to the middle shelf we are have a wooden storage crate and glass clip lock jar, both from IKEA. These are both FULL of candles... apparently we have few. Putting them here means they're very easy to grab and change over when old ones burnt out.

On the bottom shelves we have some old bibles and James' camera along with a beautiful picnic basket we were given from my parents for Christmas. I can't wait to get out in the Spring and Summer months and have picnics using this!

If you have any other suggestions on how to arrange deep shelves please let me know! Thanks so much for reading, have a good week!
