York.
Just before Christmas James and I took a short break to a small town called Pocklington just outside York. I'd never been to York before and neither of us had been away around Christmas time, so we thought it would be the perfect time to explore new places and find some Christmas markets. I've put together some of my favourite pictures from the holiday, along with writing a bit about what we got up to - enjoy!
We stayed in a beautiful converted chapel, in a great location just 20 minutes from York's park and ride, hidden down a little track road before reaching a church.
We were welcomed to the chapel by a beautiful wreath on the door and the owner had left a little bag of salt in case the path got slippery. Also, how beautiful is this door..?
Keeping the original windows a feature of the chapel kept hold of its character too.

The chapel was decorated ready for Christmas too, and there were some yummy treats left for us to start our holiday off.

When we arrived at the chapel we went for a stroll around the town, made some dinner and had a chilled evening. On the second day we went on our first visit to York. We got the park and ride into the centre of the city and explored the shambles and the markets. We had a yummy lunch out, explored a couple of museums and went to the cathedral evensong, which was really beautiful.

On the third day of our holiday we drove to Robin Hoods Bay between Whitby and Scarborough, which is where I went on holidays with my family when I was younger. When we arrived we went for a stroll across the cliffs where we had a beautiful view over the bay, and it was there that James proposed! It was such a perfect place and we spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the beach and looking for fossils, after stopping for a fish finger sandwich and a BLT of course!
This is the cottage that we stayed in when we were younger, we've got lots of happy memories there and now we've got even more!
The last day of our trip was spent relaxing at the chapel after the previous days busyness, and we popped into York to get some last presents ready for Christmas - it seems so long ago already. We had a really lovely trip, and wouldn't hesitate to go back!
