The Lake District
A few weeks ago James, Tim, Natalie and I made our way to the Lake District, which is probably one of my favourite places to visit. I've been there a few times before and have some lovely memories, and now we've made even more!
We stayed in a beautiful place called Pear Tree cottage, which was exactly what we were after. It was in a little town called Staveley, right between Windermere and Kendal.
After Windermere we popped to Kendal and climbed up to the castle ruins to have a picnic. It's a lovely view of the town from up the top.
The next part of our trip took us to Ambleside where we sat in a tiny coffee shop for drinks and brownies. We also explored the 17th century bridge house which sat over the river.
After this we drove to Tarn Hows and enjoyed a meander around the lake where we had some beautiful sunshine.
For our last morning before returning home we went to a working farm for a very tasty breakfast. The cafe was great and had a huge window where you could watch the cows being milked each afternoon.

It had so much character and the little details really made it special. On our first evening we took a BBQ up to the top of the fell next to the cottage, not realising until we were at the top that our matches were far too damp to light! Whilst Tim ran back down the hill to the shop the others and I tried to light some sort of fire, but only once Tim returned did we manage to get the BBQ going.
On our first day we visited Windermere and explored some of the lake after having a yummy hot chocolate.
On our second day we started a long walk from Grasmere, which we enjoyed for most of the day! We dipped in some very chilly tarns, admired the views and followed the waterfalls and streams up and down the mountain. We finished with a very deserved pub dinner. |

It was a short but very sweet trip, and I'm sure I'll be making my way back to the lakes again!
Thanks for reading xx
P.S. Here's a video of what we got up to while we were there!
